Hauling

This weekend I headed into town with my man friend fully prepared to spend a fortune on lovely clothing, however it turned into one of those shopping trips that occur when you have the money to spend yet find nothing you really want :(. These are the few bits I picked up, hope you enjoy.

Just a few little accessories from Primark. I saw BeautyCrush with this leaopard print bow and she was using it as a bow tie with collared tops, I plan to do exactly the same, oh and hens why I bought the next item,...

Burnt orange collared top £5, Primark. Long enough to wear with leggings, I like to team it underneath a jumper so the collar is on show, do up the top button and go for a cute/pretty look.

These are the super cosy tights from Primark, £3.50. These are so thick almost like leggings and I hope you can see in the image above that the inside of the tights have this fluffy/furry/felty/cosy amazing lining to keep your nice and warm this winter.

To put it in a nutshell I have had a pretty crappy stressful week and really wanted to pick up some Lush products so I can have a big relaxing bubble bath. I adore the smell/flavour of almonds and that marzipan aroma, so these two had to be purchased. The first one is the Lush Pud, don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure this is part of the permanent collection. The other is their new Melting Snowman, let me share the Lush blurb about this beaut:

"Our little snowman is about to shuffle off this mortal coil – but not before you get one last bath from him as he disappears for another year.
It is a short but glorious life that our Melting Snowman lives. He may not have long to go, but boy is he going to make a grand exit.
Exquisitely fragranced with a blend of oils containing vanilla absolute and sweet wild orange, giving him a deep marzipan fragrance with notes of rich fruit, reminiscent of Christmas cake and figgy puddings. Which means he smells exactly the same as our bestselling Snowcake soap.
But if it isn’t enough to smell of our most popular Christmas fragrance,  he’s also got a body made of water-softening bicarb of soda, cocoa butter and shea butter. This means that when the heat gets to him and he finally melts away, he fizzes those wonderful butters through your bathwater, leaving you soft and moisturised. What a way to go !
His legacy is your great skin – which means he lives on in the memory of all who knew him."
To put it simply, I cannot wait to use him!!!
Oh I also picked up a batwing top from Primark which was £2.90, was meant to be £5 but they had them on offer. I have wanted to try a batwing top for a long time and this was just the right price to pay in case I hated it on. However truth be told I love it, its not photographed as I have it on right now, but I may do a little outfit of the day with it in.
Now here are a few things I have been picking up over the past few weeks.

Leopard Print Bag - £9 - Primark. I like the way it opens, like a doctors bag, however the clasp is now broken :( I guess you only get what you pay for.

Cosmetic Wrap/Roll - £2 - Primark. This was in the sale from £5,. I probably wouldn't of bought it otherwise, however it has really proven itself to be a valuable little item and I use it every weekend without fail. You can also fit a hell of a lot of stuff in it, which is great for me as I never seem to travel light.

Muslin clothes, now only 59p or 69p from Home Bargains, these are the best quality ones I have found so far and certainly the cheapest, I stocked up while they had them in and bought loads.

Wolf Jumper  - £14 - Peacocks. I fell in love with this jumper when I saw it. I had been on the market for a plain black jumper at the time as it is a timeless wardrobe staple, but when I saw this I had to buy it. The glitter on the wolf was fine till it was washed, after that it seemed to have gone everywhere, again you get what you pay for but I do very much like it. Oh and its also longer at the back so it can be worn with leggings for that lazy yet still fashionable look.

Lastly this has to be the best bargain I have found all year. I had this coat on my wishlist, it was £90 from River Island, however I managed to pick it up for £35 in their mid season sale, yes my friends that is less than HALF PRICE. It is so warm, in fact maybe a little too warm to wear right now, but I assure you when the Winter really kicks in this will not be off my back. Total value for money and I am so happy to have it hanging in my wardrobe.
Thanks for reading, I hope you liked my little "haul"

Newspaper Nails

I have been admiring this nail art design for quite some time and decided to give it a go yesterday, I couldn't be happier with the results. It is soooooo simple and easy to do, what you will need:

  • Vodka or Rubbing alcohol.
  • Newsprint or pages from a book ( any print on non glossy paper will do)
  • Base coat
  • Top coat
  • A nail polish of your choice, a lighter colour will work best.

Basically you will paint your nails as usual, a base coat to start then two layers of the colour you have chosen to use.
You must wait till these layers are completely dry, otherwise when you come to apply the newsprint it will get stuck and make a giant mess.
You will then need to put a little vodka or alcohol into a receptacle ( small glass,. I just like using the word receptacle) and dip the nail/tip of your finger into the alcohol for about 5 seconds. Whilst the nail is still wet apply the newsprint over the top and press down till the words have transferred onto the nail. If you are having difficulties I found applying a little more vodka on top of the print will get it to transfer easier.
Now just peel off the paper, the words should be on the nail, you just need to let it dry for a few seconds more then apply your top coat, which will seal in all those lovely words and make you nail nice and shiney.
Oh the newsprint may also transfer onto the skin surrounding the nail, but never fear a cotton bud dipped in nail varnish remover will take it away no problemo.
Hope this helped and you give it a try, it really is that simple and leaves you with such a unique and eye catching nail art.

I have used Models Own Peach Puff and this is the end results.

Autumn Loves Tag

Ok, its been a while since I have posted anything on here, so to ease back into blogging I have decided to do this "fall loves" tag,. I am English so I call it Autumn, just to clear this up. Also with the tag deriving from America, there is questions I simply cannot answer, I have no idea what a corn maze is, maybe I should Google this instead of being blissfully ignorant, anywhoo I digress, here we go:

Beauty & Fashion:

1) Top 5 fall makeup items?
  • Lipbalm,. my lips get rather chapped which leads to horrible lipstick application and no kisses. I enjoy both nice lipstick and nice kisses so lipbalm is a must. Above is the lipbalm I use, I got it from Spain years ago, it is now on its last legs which upsets me as I can't find it anywhere here in the UK, also it is sitting above this question as for some reason I can't get it to go below, my apologies
  • Primer,.I find it just keeps my skin extra moisturized and as gross as it sounds, stops any flakey dry skin. If I do have flakey dry skin, it tends to just help smooth it out so I don't look quite so flakey, so attractive I know. I am still loving the Porefessional from Benefit.
  • Pink Blush,. I like a nice light pink blush to give my cheeks that "cold nipped" look, haha yes I have just made that term up, but I mean the look given when the cold and wind gets at your cheeks. I am using La Femme - Pink. Applied with a light hand it looks lovely and natural.
  • Lipstick,.

2) Favorite Fall hair product?

This time of year my hair gets unbelievably dry, so just lots and lots of conditioner, I'm using a herbal essences one at the mo.

3) Favorite Fall Nail Polish?
My favourite nail combo at this time of year is Models Own - Purple Grey with Barry M Raspberry over the top. I do like the Barry M polish however it can look a little red/tacky on me, worn over the Purple Grey it just tones it down and makes it a much deeper richer shade of red/purple, perfect for Autumn.

4) Favorite Fall scent?
Coco Chanel Mademoiselle, sexy, feminine, yet musky and perfect for this time of year.

5) Most worn clothing item & accessory?
A good old snood or scarf, my most worn one this year being the green Primark one with zebra's all over it which can be found in a previous haul. Oh and I got my hands on the leopard print faux fur jacket from my wishlist, this will also get worn to death as I had it on this weekend and its like being inside a cloud of love and warmth.

Random Fall Questions!:

1) Who's your Fall Style icon?
I wouldn't say I have one particular style icon. I enjoy flicking through the glossy magazine and looking online to see what items are "on trend",. if I like a particular piece I will purchase it or something similar, but I never limit myself to only wearing clothes that a certain celeb wears, where my friends is the fun in that.

2) Going to a corn maze, what do you wear?
I would dress up as a giant corn on the cob. Something a little like this:

3) Favorite Halloween movie?
I love scary movies,. however I do have the tendency to completely traumatize myself and have many a sleepless night. I have to say I do like the Saw films, however this year I would like to see Paranormal Activity 3, as my boyfriend and I have rather enjoyed the previous 2.

4) Favorite Halloween candy?
Red Toffee Apples, I had one last week and it made me happy. Ooh also bonfire lollies, which are basically lollies that taste like bonfires, not that I have ever licked a bonfire, but you know that kind of burnt sugar/ toffee taste.

5) What are you being for Halloween?!
I am more than likely being boring and not dressing up this year. I have no party invites, sad I know! So me and the boy plan on staying in with lots of scary films and goodies and generally scaring ourselves silly.

Shabby Chic on a budget

Dressing Table Mirror With Draw

I found this beaut in the charity shop for FIFTEEN POUNDS, I had to snap it up as the ones I have been looking at to buy have been around £70 brand new. I wanted to give it a french/ chic look so I have decorated it with roses which I purchased from ebay and cost me about £5 for both the big white roses and smaller pink ones. I love how cute and girly it looks and in total cost me a mere £20. Oh and the ring stand I have had for a while but got it from a place called B&M,. its a general "cheap" shop, I think it cost me £2. All together the whole lot looks a lot more expensive and adds a certain shabby chic feel to my bedroom. Get out there and search for bargains my friends, get the creative juices flowing, you never know what charity shops etc can throw up, with a few tweaks you can have a beautiful piece and save a hell of a lot of money.

September Fave's 2011

In no particular order the products I am really rating and reaching for through the month of September, enjoy;

  • Flora- Gucci,. My boyfriend picked this up for me at a product sale at his place of work. It is such a sweet girly scent, perfect for the day or evening, personally I wear it ALL THE TIME :)

  • Gucci Guilty shower gel,. again a product my boyfriend got for me, this is more on the fruity side of scents, but still sweet and I just love it. The gel itself leaves you smelling great and feeling really moisturized after a shower, it also lathers up really well which is a must for my shower gels. I love love love this scent and the actual perfume is top of my Christmas list now.

  • Natural Collection Passionfruit Body Spray - £2 -Boots. Ok, so I now look like I have a smelly problem with all the scented products I have in this months favorites, I assure you I don't :). I picked this up to use as a general all over body spray to freshen up during the day. Its very light and refreshing and does a great job of cooling you down in the heat, yes there has been "heat" in Britain this month. The scent wasn't one I thought I would enjoy but it is lovely, very fruity and very nice.

  • Batiste Dry Shampoo - Coconut & exotic tropical - £1.59 Superdrug (on offer). I was very dubious of dry shampoo's and always imagined they would do nothing but make my hair sticky and full of product. Oh how I was wrong, I picked this up on offer to try it out. It smells like Malibu which automatically makes it awesome. Due to having massivly damaged hair from bleaching this enables me to go a lot longer between washes, so I damage my hair less, yet this keeps it looking fresh as a daisy and non greasy. Its a winner in my books and I shall be repurchasing for the month of October.

  • Silver & Turquoise Ring. My mother got me this a few weeks ago now, and it is never off my finger. I really like the colour of the stone and the chunkiness of the ring. Not much else I can say other than I really enjoy wearing it and its a nice statement piece.

  • La Femme Blush - Pink 5.5g - £2.99 - love make up. Now this colour looks so bright, and garish but just a small amount on the apples of the cheeks blended out gives the most beautiful flush to the face. It looks so natural and to me reminds me of when you get rosy cheeks after the wind has been nipping at your face. I really love La Femme blushes, the pigmentation and colour pay off is superb, a tiny amount goes a long way and they have a great range of colours to choose from, I am making it my own personal mission to obtain them all.

  • Witch Pressed Powder - £2.49. This powder has became my fav this month purely because it is oil free. I have banged on enough about my skin, but basically I needed to find products that wouldn't add any more oil to my face, I discovered this on offer in Tesco and it is great. I wouldn't say it is the most amazing powder I have used, but for the price it does a pretty good job. I noticed my foundation lasted a lot longer after setting it with this powder, and oil was a little less of a problem during the day, oh it also provides a medium to build-able coverage. The colour is just natural I believe, it doesn't look orangey or cakey, and I recommend it for any of you guys struggling with oily skin or looking for oil free make up.

Elf Conditioning Lip Balm SPF 15 - £3.50 - Mellow Mellon -  ELF. This is hands down the best, most conditioning balm I have ever used. Applied to dry chapped lips it has them sorted out within hours, if that! The colour payoff is great, and although this colour doesn't suit me too well, I still use it daily just to keep my lips nice and soft. The fact it contains SPF is great as the sun always dries out lips and makes them chapped, just like cold or harsh weather does, so you can't be too careful. I can't wait to get a few of the other colours to try,. oh and it smells divine too :)

  • Mac eyeshadow - Orb -£9.50. I use this all over the lids everyday without fail. It is a creamy natural colour and just makes the lids look flawless, teamed with black eyeliner and big eyelashes this is perfect for an everyday look. The formula is really creamy too making it a dream to apply, and it doesn't budge all day. I love it, so quick, easy and yet very effective.

So that is it for my September favorites, sorry if it seems a bit short.
