Christmas Lustlist

Dear Santa ( friends, family and anyone else who wants to buy me lovely things for Christmas)

These are the items at the top of my list this year:

  • A pair of Vans, I think I have my mind set on the red ones, I don't own a pair of trainers and really think its about time I did.
  • A tortoise shell watch, any will do, yes the Korrs one is beautiful, but I see River Island have a rather nice one on offer also.
  • Topshop studded flats, I have wanted these for ages. Again I don't have a nice pair of flats, all of mine are just cheap ones from Primark, so these would go down a treat.
  • Evil eye ring from Topshop, everyone has it except me :( I'd like it very much.
  • Red peace bracelet, again Topshop. I love peace jewelry atm, and this would be a rather pretty addition to my collection.
  • Celebrity style studded bag, I like this one as it has the long strap too, I can't really deal with just small handles.
  • Upside down cross tee. I may just make one of these myself, as they are so expensive for what they are online.
  • Deep red high waisted leggings, these are from River Island, and I like them a lot, I only really have black leggings so time to branch out
  • Channel quote jumper, I spotted this in a local boutique, its so cute. I love how its oversized, warm and slouchy, yet still stylish with a catchy quote by Channel.

November Haul- Primark +Vintage + few others :)

Hey, I firstly want to apologize for my lack of blog-posts as of late. I have just been rather busy and if I'm honest I have struggled to come up with ideas for posts. To get back into the swing of things I have forced myself to spend money ( I say force in jest as this is something that comes all a little too easy for me),. so this will be a collective haul. Hope you enjoy, and if anyone has any requests or ideas for new posts please let me know.

So I shall start with a few things I picked up from a local charity shop. The first being this black velvet shirt. It reminded me of something you  could pick up from Topshop atm, and even though it is a size two small and I look like a sausage packed into it, I WILL shrink into this dam top, for now it shall be worn open. I picked up some gold beads, and painstakingly sewn them all over the shirt ( or plan too, for now they are just on the front panels) the beading has taken hours so far, but I had been lusting over the Topshop beaded velvet leggings for a while, and this is my handmade version in shirt form. Oh the shirt cost me £2.50 and the beads £1,. so for £3.50 I am pretty impressed to get a piece bang on trend,.. now the problem I am faced with is styling it, maybe I will have to spend a fortune on something I can actually wear it with * sigh*.

I then got this silver/glittery top from the same charity shop, again it was around £2.50,.. I have no idea what I will wear it with, but I'm thinking of adding a "leather" peter pan collar and making it a tad edgy. Again its very similar to pieces I have seen in Topshop, River Island etc,. so I couldn't ressist getting it. I will upload a picture of the finished product or what I style these pieces with when I have it all figured out.

The next thing is possibly one of my most exciting ( for me) puchases. My darling boyfriend got me this as an early Christmas present, and it is a Fur stoll/collar. I have been wanting one from H&M for a while, however I saw this at a vintage shop and fell in love. Now I am aware it is not everyones cup of tea, mainly because it is real fur and still has its little FACE on,. however it was only a few pounds more than the fake fur version, so I'd rather pay the extra and get the real deal. It is so so warm, goes with pretty much anything and adds a little extra to any outfit. I adore this piece.

I saw this necklace on a you-tuber last week and really liked it, to my surprise when I went into Topshop it was on sale for £2. Its a "H" in gold on a royal blue enamel background, all on this really sweet delicate gold chain. I really like this and was so happy to pick it up for so little. Again it looks nice with any outfit really and can be worn alone for a more feminine/sweet look,. or layered for a more edgy effect, either way its sweet.

The other jewelry item I got was this "peace" ring from Miss Selfridge. Its basically a silver band with three peace signs in the middle. I love the peace symbol, and although I don't always bring peace to those around me, I certainly try. It was £4 and looks lovely stacked :)

The last few things are from Primark. The first being this camel coloured vest.  I really like the colour, infact I enjoy all the colours on trend this season. I just think this top is nice to layer ( as its a vest and I live in the UK there is abso no chance of it being worn alone this time of year) The detailing is really sweet, and I especially like the peter pan collar as I didn't have anything with this till I picked up these items.

Lastly is this black long sleeved top. Its kind of baggy, then pulls in at the bottom where there is a elasticated band of fabric. The sleeves are also rather baggy then cuffed. It has a kind of double peter pan collar, and yes I must be the last person walking that didn't buy into this trend, but I am so glad I have now, I like wearing a little necklace underneath so it kinda pokes out at the front of the collar. Again this top is simple, but for Primark I think pretty stylish. I needed something long sleeved, and this fits the bill. It can be dressed up or down, oh and I enjoy the little buttons on the cuffs, nice little detail Primark!

Hope you liked my few little bits and pieces, if you have any ideas how to style the velvet shirt please let me know as I am struggling.

Weekend in Photo's

Just a few photographs I have taken over the weekend, my boyfriend and I managed to get to two massive firework displays and enjoyed a few sparklers at home. I love it when there is actual "events" to go to on a weekend rather than spending our time doing the usual shopping etc, and as soppy as it sounds it was one of the best and most romantic weekends :)

Week in photo's

  • A cute little Pony we came across at the re-homing shelter, unfortunately I don't have space to keep him :( I also couldn't find a dog I liked there either but stay tuned as I may have a new little edition to the family coming soon............
  • The best toffee apple I have ever eaten, courtesy of Asda, 50p
  • Some kind of pumpkin/vegetable collection I rather liked the look of, I am not saying I have a veg fetish, I just mean they looked rather fetching all together in their little crate.
  • The pumpkin my man-friend and I carved for Halloween, we thought it may be good enough to enter the competition at his place of work, I was later informed IT WAS NOT!, I still think it was cute though.

I am absolutely loving this cold weather and now cannot wait to go see a fireworks display at the weekend, getting all wrapped up, it shall be magical I tell you :)

Helen Says,...RELAX

This is going to be a slightly different post today, all about relaxation.
I could try fill you with blurb and try link relaxation to beauty somehow by saying "ooooooh if you are relaxed you get less wrinkles or your skin is better or you wont get spots",. however truth is I just wanted to have a little type about my experience, so please bare with.
Last night I went back to school to attend a relaxation course, which was designed to help those who find it difficult to switch off, have too many thoughts wizzing round their mind at once and general anxiety.
Now I have been suffering anxiety for about a year now, and it has such an impact on your everyday life I wanted to try something to help me manage this. I won't go into great detail but I have tried many things to manage anxiety/panic attacks and some have been no help to me at all, so I was a little skeptical.
Let me set the scene, picture an AA meeting set up (circle of chairs where you all face each other) however this had yoga mats on the floor next to your seat. The women in front of me took one look at this set up and fled for the nearest exit, I must admit I fancied doing the same, the thought of sitting in a room with everyone staring at me and having to introduce myself to strangers was alone enough to induce a panic attack. I did decide to stay though and waddled in to take a seat.
The first task was to lie on the mat while the guy taking the class spoke to us, getting us to focus on certain points of the body and in his words "letting go" of any tensions. Well this is found extremely difficult, I was somewhere between panic attack and holding in a laughter fit at the elderly man next to me and his obvious flatulence problem (I believe he had relaxed a little too much). All I could do was think of what excuse I could make to leave, but if I have learnt one thing it is to stay in a panic provoking environment and learn how to deal with it.
We had a little chat after this exercise and most people said how much it had helped them to relax etc, I was sat thinking how much it hurt lying on a hard floor in a cold draft, not too worry haha. Now during this chat I must admit I started to calm down, the panic was passing and I was ready to open my thoughts to really "relaxing". We then started the main exercise which again meant we were back on the floor, this time tensing and relaxing different muscle groups and feeling the difference between the two stages. Now this really does work, after 20 minutes I could barely keep my eyes open and felt pretty much glued to the spot. It was blissful, at last I was not in a state on anxiety or panic, nothing was worrying me and I felt completely relaxed.
Again as we were in this AA set up we had to discuss our every thought and feeling, not something I am overly keen on, but at least this time I could nod in agreement when people said how it good it made them feel.
We were all given a pack which included the relaxation CD we had been using and some other leaflets etc. Now I think these kind of classes should be made mandatory for everyone, and maybe if I had learned how to relax and deal with stresses I wouldn't of ended up as anxious etc as I am now. I would strongly reccomend trying this kind of thing out, even if you don't really suffer with stress too much (lets face it in this day and age its pretty unlikely you haven't been effected by stress), as it could really come in useful in the future.
I know this has seemed rather light hearted, but believe me sometimes you just have to laugh at what life throws you otherwise you will just cry lol.
Now I am looking forward to next weeks lesson, even if I do have to endure  the elderly man who can't hear a thing and asks for everything to be repeated, or the the snobby women who shot daggers at me when I took off my coat to reveal my tattoo's, I just want to chill out and they won't be getting in my way.
Thanks for reading and if you wan't any advice on any of the contents above feel free to contact me, as I am sure I can help or just offer someone to talk too.
